March 2021 Meeting Minutes
BUSINESS MEETING AGENDA, MARCH 2021
1. WORSHIP
2. CLERK’S REMARKS
- The purpose of our meetings for business is to seek the Spirit’s will for us as a community. We are here to worship and not to get through an agenda.
- If you want to suggest that we take some time for worship or take more time between speakers, please say, “Clerk, can we have some time for silence” or use the Time Out sign.
- Being a clerk is a role assigned to one or two people, but clerking is a bunch of behaviors that we all can engage in, and I hope we all will.
- We leave room for Spirit to come through, releasing our thoughts, judgements, opinions and becoming silent inside and out. We can hand our issues to Spirit/God/Jesus, and then settle into any sensations or messages coming through.
3. QUERY
When people talk about making the business primarily a form of worship, they usually talk about times when weighty, engaging issues are being discussed. But sometimes a lot of meeting is taken up with simple committee reports, announcements, or other things that you do not find engaging. I find that connection to the Spirit is harder for me at times like this. This is a problem I have. Other times, like today, I am sleepy because I didn’t get a good night’s sleep. This is another problem I have. Today there are two connected queries.
- What are things you experience during Meeting for Business that make it difficult to connect with the Spirit–things that make it difficult for you to experience Meeting for Business as a form of worship?
- What are some of the things you do to manage these difficulties?
